LaVerne Kimble, 77, of Elkhart, IN, formerly of Chicago passed away Feb. 17, 2004. Born in Milwaukee, WI June 16, 1926 to John H. and Gertrude, nee Wilkins, Christian. Survived by son, Keith Ellington of Elkhart, IN; four stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; six stepgreat-great-grandchildren; preceded in death by one brother Alvin Christian; and a daughter-in-law Choice Ellington. Formerly employed by the Chicago Police Department and retired in 1991 from Chicago Community Schools where she was a librarian. Graveside services will be held at 12 p.m. (noon) Chicago time Monday at Sunset Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Northbrook, IL, Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funerals is in charge of arrrangments.
