This is concerning a federal marriage amendment.
The Bill of Rights is intended to curtail the government’s exercise of power over people’s personal lives, not to enlarge it. A diversion from this principle was tried in the last century with similar high-toned moralizing. It was called prohibition. It didn’t work and neither will this.
