I cannot express how deeply saddened I am at the proposition of changing our Constitution to make discrimination legal. Amending the Constitution to require discrimination would be unprecedented and would erode everything this country stands for.
Regardless of your feelings about homosexuals, the amendment defies the fundamental principles of fairness and equality on which this country is founded.
I don’t understand why the president is so threatened by the fact that I want to marry my partner of 10 years. We are not making a religious or moral statement; we simply wish to be legally bound to each other by law. We wish to have all the same privileges of any lifelong couple.
