Mary Shirley Globis, nee O’Brien, age 68, passed away Wednesday February 18, 2004 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born February 27, 1935 to Michael J. and Catherine M., nee Ligue, O’Brien. She was an active member of St. Gilbert Parish since 1962 where she coordinated ministries of the sick, faith sharing groups, prison ministry and assisted at baptisms. Shirley is survived by her beloved and sweetheart Richard Globis, whom she wed in 1959. Her children, Cheryl (Ronald) DiNella of Lake Bluff, Steven (Alina) Globis of Green Oaks, Mark Globis of Gurnee, Michele (Kevin) Hoople of Algonquin; her adoring grandchildren, Brien, Michele and Stephanie DiNella, Shannon and Amanda Hoople and Alyson Globis. She was the dear “little” sister of Bernard O’Brien and a devoted “Matriarch” to her precious nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her aformentioned parents and four brothers Walter, Joe, Roy and Harold O’Brien. Friends of the family may visit on Friday February 20, 2004 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Ltd., 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grays Lake, Il. 60030. Please meet at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, 301 E. Belvidere Rd., Grays Lake, for the Funeral Mass on Saturday February 21, 2004 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery.
