As if trading yet another talented player wasn’t enough to insult what few Blackhawks fans remain, Bob Pulford claims the team will add “as many as four top players” this coming summer.
Such promises seem to be made every season in a feeble attempt to give hope to a franchise that has become the NHL’s laughingstock. Even if the new collective-bargaining agreement is Dollar Bill Wirtz-friendly, why would an elite player consider joining an organization that over the last decade has traded away virtually every star player it had?
Passionate fan loyalty during the last 20 years allowed Wirtz to build the United Center and line his pockets with millions of dollars. It’s about time he puts his money where Pulford’s mouth is.
