Sylvia B. Van Blarcom passed away on February 17, 2004, after a short illness. She was born in Highland Park, IL, on April 21, 1933, to Alfred L. and Louise T. Burke. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Margaret R. Burke; her sister, Barbara Longstreth; and her brother, Alfred L. Burke Jr. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Samuel L. Van Blarcom; her son James G. Gurney, his wife Peggy Duhamel, and their daughter, Zoe Gurney; her son Peter B. Gurney and his wife Deborah Sorensen; her son A. Burke Gurney, his wife Deborah Cornish, and their daughters Kyra Gurney and Elise Gurney; her son Geoffrey L. Gurney, his wife Leasa Gurney, their sons Scott Gurney and Peter Gurney, and their daughter Leasa Hunt; her son S. Scott Van Blarcom and his wife Jill Van Blarcom; and her son Clifford Stock, his wife Jill Brewer, and his son Colin Stock. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 22 at the Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Road, Skokie, IL. Services will be coordinated through Donnellan and Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Boulevard in Skokie, IL.
