– BMW is investigating new technology for motorcycles, Tom Purves, chairman and CEO of BMW North America. The luxury auto and cycle makers is looking into a head-up display for the visor of cycle helmets that would provide digital readouts of information from the speedometer to routing using a global positioning satellite to provide the maps.
– Mini is mighty. In a recent Internet survey, Mini ranked as the third most recognized brand name, says Purves. It was behind Google and Apple computer and ahead of Coca-Cola.
– “Good design shouldn’t be for premium models only,” says Peter Horbury, executive director of design for Ford. “Tooling for a beautiful car costs the same as tooling for a mediocre car. So good design doesn’t cost more. Designers create great design, not buckets of money.”
