Most storytellers need words and descriptions to change characters. But some people can do it just by changing their hats.
The Mat Hatters, a volunteer project representing the Junior League of Chicago, will be appearing at the Roselle Public Library Saturday to act out stories and verse for children up to 10.
The 30-minute program encourages children to read using an interactive approach.
“The women who do this are very talented, and merely switch hats, and sometimes voices, in order to change characters,” said Gerri Svenson, a member of the library’s youth services department. Register through the youth services department by calling 630-529-1641, ext. 351.
