Brayton Smith, age 83, of Brownwood. Funeral services Texas were held Feb. 18 at Union Presbyterian Church. He died Feb. 14 in Brownwood. He was born June 10, 1920 in Oak Park, IL and was a graduate of Evanston High School and Lake Forest Academy. He attended Dartmouth College until he joined the U. S. Army Air Corps in World War II where he became a pilot. He married Corinne Tucker of Pine Bluff, Arkansas in 1943. Mr. Smith was an insurance executive at W. A. Alexander in Chicago until 1959 when he moved to Brownwood, Texas and started his own insurance agency. He was an active civic leader. Brayton is survived by his wife Corinne; two sons, Jeff and Scott, and one daughter, Leanne. He is also survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Oakley Smith and Byrd Arnold Smith of Evanston, and a brother Arnold Smith.
