By and large I agree with Paul Sullivan’s choices and critiques. Special kudos for panning the ever-egocentric Kevin Costner, who manages to strip his last remaining shreds of dignity with every new role.
But Paul should get out to his local Blockbuster and expand his field of vision. Two glaring omissions in this reader’s opinion: “The Natural” and “61*.”
I recognize “The Natural” may not be entirely about baseball, but its all-star cast and story line does far more justice to the game than the likes of “Angels in the Outfield” or even “Field of Dreams.” And what “The Natural” lacks in the aforementioned category, “61*” covers. I am not a big Billy Crystal fan, but he got it right when he made that film.
