Chicago police on Friday continued to investigate the alleged kidnapping of a businessman seven days after the 44-year-old man disappeared, spokesman Pat Camden said.

The man was last seen Feb. 21 in the 3700 block of West Fullerton Avenue, Camden said.

The man’s stepson, John Medina, said in a telephone interview that his mother, Norma Morales, called his father at Morales Communications, 3713 W. Fullerton, about 3 p.m. Feb. 21 and told him there was a broken window at their other store at 4222 W. Fullerton. “He was on his way, and he never arrived,” Medina said.

That night, his mother received a call demanding money, he said. “We made the drop, and we haven’t seen him,” he said.

FBI spokesman Ross Rice said an FBI evidence-recovery team helped Chicago police “process a crime scene,” but he declined to specify what crime scene.
