– Five crashes involving the Chevrolet Aveo, which went on sale a few months ago, prompted GM to halt their sales for a week until the carmaker determined the car was not to blame for the wrecks. There were injuries but no fatalities in the crashes.

– Led by Keisha Castle-Hughes, the youngest Best Actress nominee for her role in “Whale Rider,” several actors plan to arrive at the Academy Awards in Los Angeles in gas-electric cars. Those joining the environmentally friendly parade include Diane Keaton, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Marcia Gay Harden, Robin Williams, Will Ferrell, Sting and Tom Hanks.
