Ralph Nader’s candidacy may inspire that fraction of the Democratic electorate that otherwise would not bother to vote but are incensed by Nader’s candidacy and his potential spoiler role. So long as these votes outnumber the ones lost to the would-be spoiler, the Democratic nominee’s chances may actually be better with Nader in the race.
