I am outraged at the thought of being forced by my local government to insert a microchip into my pet “County plan calls for pets to get ID chip; Animal owners could face fines of $20 per day” (Metro, Feb. 26). This is another money-making scheme of the Cook County government. Why not first begin enforcing the licensing of pets that is already required, but many pet owners ignore? Or better yet, if this is really only about making money for the county, why don’t we start fining pet owners who don’t bag and dispose of their pet’s poop? Have you walked around Chicago’s neighborhoods lately? It’s a minefield.
