The Chicago Transit Authority said Thursday it has hired a former FBI agent as its new security chief.

Patrick Daly, who retired Wednesday as special agent in charge covering Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, will become the CTA’s general manager of security, said transit agency spokeswoman Noelle Gaffney. Daly will be paid $100,000.

He replaces Robert Dart, who retired in July.

Daly will coordinate police and security functions, including developing strategies aimed at providing a safer and secure environment for CTA customers and employees, Gaffney said.
