With increasing sadness I have been reading the papers and viewing the coverage of my friend, Blair Hull, as he seeks to become the Democratic candidate for United States senator from Illinois. I have known Hull for 43 years, went to college with him, served in the military with him for a year and worked alongside him for almost all of the past 16 years. In that time he fought for equality on several fronts: for equal opportunity for female athletes under Title IX, for fairness for all investors in the financial markets, for women’s freedom to choose and for more opportunities for women in his own firm, Hull Trading Co. He won several of those battles and continues the fight today in the others.

Hull led his firm in a manner consistent with his ideals. He is a man of great integrity and can accomplish things in Washington for Illinois that others cannot.
