Talk about some serious bling-bling. OutKast and Eminem are going after diamonds.

Em’s “The Marshall Mather’s LP” and OutKast’s “Speakerboxx/The Love Below” were certified in February by the Recording Industry Association of America as having shipped 9 million copies. That means they are approaching elite diamond status, bestowed on releases that have shipped 10 million copies.

It took Eminem’s sophomore disc less than three years to reach the 9 million mark (nine times platinum), while the set from Big Boi and Andre 3000 did it in about six months.

The RIAA counts each disc separately, meaning 4.5 million copies of OutKast’s double-disc set have reached U.S. shelves.
