David Michael Coakley, age 62, current resident of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Past away on February 26, 2004, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Born in Chicago on November 2, 1941, youngest of seven children. He grew up in Chicago & later moved to Georgia where he married Jacqueline Godfrey and fathered two children, Dana Michelle and David Matthew Coakley. He worked for many years for Bell Concrete Company, retiring early due to a work-related back injury. In 1991, David was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was ordained to the lesser or Aaronic Priesthood. Returning to the Chicago area, David was ordained to the higher or Melchizedek Priesthood in 1992. In this capacity, he accepted responsbility for missionary work home-teaching and blessing of the sick. He was later privileged to be called to serve in the Chicago, Illinois Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. David had a strong faith and testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was totally dedicated to the great work to which he had been called. He was known for his loving kindness, helpfulness, easy manner and good sense of humor, even though he suffered with severe back pain for many years. David was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Edith (Layman) Coakley; his brother Bob, and sister-in-law Terrie Coakley and sister Peggy Coakley. He is survived by his wife, Judith (Svoboda) Coakley; children from his first marriage, Dana Michelle McKinzie of Canton, Georgia and David Matthew Coakley of Aurora, Illinois; grandsons Cody and Dylan Morris and James McKinzie of Canton, Georgia and new born Joseph Michael Coakley of Aurora, Illinois; brother Richard and sister-in-law Renie Coakley of Hoffman Estates, Illinois and brother Don Coakley of Berwyn, Illinois; sister Lorraine Geary of Woodstock, Illinois and sister Pat and brother-in-law Bob Melms of Bloomingdale, Illinois; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. On Sunday, March 7, 2004, at 7 p.m., memorial service will be held at the Adolf Funeral Home, 2921 S. Harlem, in Berwyn, Illinois (just a few miles south of the Eisenhower Expressway). Monetary donations will be given to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to be used for Humanitarian Aid.
