American style is so casual that even brides are dressing down. Or at least J. Crew is offering the opportunity.
The spring catalog and Web site (www.jcrew.com) include simple lace-and-silk dresses appropriate for a wedding on a Bermuda beach or at noon in a country church. Priced from $175 to $260, they are decidedly unpretentious. They are available in pastel colors for bridesmaids. And for the guys, J. Crew pitches seersucker and chinos, which look more comfortable than the formal penguin suit.
