William Robert Theiss, 70, born Aug. 31, 1933 in Oakland, CA, passed away at his Deerfield residence on March 7, 2004. Mr. Theiss received his. B.A. in 1955 and his J.D. in 1957 from Valparaiso University and his L.L.M. in 1959 from Yale Law School. He was an attorney with the Chicago law firm of Kirkland & Ellis from 1959 until the end of 2003. He helped establish the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, serving as its President and on its Board of Directors, and remained an active participant in the Foundation’s activities throughout his life. Beloved husband of Elaine; loving father of Paul (Susan), Steve (Susan) and John (Monica); cherished grandfather of Peter, Lauren, Katie, Erin, Will, David, Andrew, Jack and Patrick; dear brother of Georgine Steude and preceded in death by an infant son, Andrew David, in 1964. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tues., March 9, 2004 at Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Rd., Highland Park, IL. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wed., March 10, 2004 at Grace Lutheran Church, 2245 Walters Ave., Northbrook, IL 60062 with a reception to follow at the church.
