Dr. William E. Cunningham, who practiced medicine in Chicago for over 50 years, died Monday, March 8, 2004, at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center. During his medical career, he was on the medical staff of both, Michael Reese and Mercy Hospitals. Dr. Cunningham will lie in state at the Carter Funeral Home, 2100 East 75th Street, Chicago, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2004. Visitation will be Saturday, March 13, 2004, 10 a.m., at Quinn Chapel AME Church, 2401 S. Wabash Ave. Chicago, IL, with the funeral service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Lawn, 3100 Shermer Rd., Northbrook, IL. Dr. Cunningham is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Paula Cunningham; brother, Dr. Robert (Dr. Matilda) Cunningham; sisters, Ruth King and Minnie Cunningham along with numerous other relatives. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
