Chicago actor Gary Sinise is in talks to take the lead in a new “CSI” spinoff, this one set in New York. But there are other Chicagoans, or heck, Illinoisans, who could easily make the transition from public figure to network TV star:

– “Who Wants to be a Hired Truck Millionaire?”: The game show where the more you pay to play, the more you stand to win. This week’s contestant: Michael Tadin.

– “America’s Funniest Homeland Videos”: Winnetka-born Donald Rumsfeld narrates wacky outtakes from the interrogations of detainees at Guantanamo Bay.

– “While You Were Out”: Lead singer Jeff Tweedy gathers weekly with fellow Wilco musicians and briefs them on whether they’re still in the band. (Could sub Billy Corgan if Tweedy balks.)

– “What Not to Wear”: Park Ridge native Hillary Clinton could lead us through her hits (black pantsuit) and misses (headbands) on the road from frumpy first lady of Arkansas to less-frumpy New York senator.

– “The Apprentice: Chicago”: The Windy City apprentices’ first assignment: Prevent the city’s three remaining factories from moving to China.

– “Extreme Teardown: Hinsdale”: The race to build the gaudiest McMansion is on!
