Fantasia Barrino and John Stevens, get ready for stardom. All you other “American Idol” contestants can just pack it in right now–according to “Idol” judge Simon Cowell.
Simon, who couldn’t keep an opinion to himself if he tried, told mtv.com that neither he nor the other judges root for any particular singer from the 12 finalists, but Fantasia looks like the favorite to him.
“If I had to choose one of the 12 now to offer a recording contract without the competition, it would be Fantasia,” he said of the 19-year-old from North Carolina, “although I think it’s going to be tough for her in the rounds.”
Among the four men still in the running, Simon predicts that 16-year-old John Stevens will go the furthest.
“If I was making a record, I would pick the ginger-head kid,” Simon said. “The guy who sings the Dean Martin stuff.”
