Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

This is regarding a good deed done by a well-known person who probably never gets recognition for something like this. My 32-year-old son-in-law was battling a terminal brain tumor. Andy Lane was also a huge fan of a famous football coach, Mike Ditka. Andy loved Ditka so much, he hung a picture of Ditka on his fridge for all his Atlanta friends to see.

Upon learning this, a dear friend took many measures to contact the coach to give Andy a memory worth sharing. It was Andy’s last stay in the hospital when the phone rang. A smile appeared brightly because “Da Coach” called to see how Andy was doing. No words can describe the impact on his demeanor after talking to the coach.

Soon to arrive was an autographed football signed by the man himself. After a few days Andy passed on, leaving with us a story to share with his two kids about what an amazing man Ditka is.

I would like to thank him so much for his kindness and compassion toward a young man and his family.
