Bert E. Berglund, age 74, of rural Monroe, formerly of Dundee, IL for 27 years, died Saturday, March 6, 2004 at his home. He was born on April 24, 1929 in Chicago, IL, the son of Johan Erik and Anna Maria, nee Trygg, Berglund. Bert graduated from South Shore High School in 1947 in Chicago, IL; he also graduated from the American Academy of Art, and attended the Art Institute of Chicago. Bert married Jeanne M. Schwinn on April 7, 1956 at St. Margaret of Scotland Church in Chicago. Bert was a commercial artist and worked for several advertising and art studios in Chicago and the suburbs. He served two years in the U.S. Army as a security guard during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a coropral. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Berglund of Monroe; three sons, Eric Berglund of Mountain View, CA, Paul Berglund (Susan Altese) of Wilmette, IL and Dan Berglund of Johnstown, OH; a daughter, Chris (Phil) Stenger of Edelstein, IL; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, MajBritt Berglund. Private services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given in Bert’s name to the Monroe Clinic Hospice.
