Detroit automakers on average have surpassed European automakers in terms of reliability, but they have not caught up to cars and trucks built by Asian manufacturers, according to a new survey from Consumer Reports. The magazine’s 2004 auto issue also reports that imports continue to outscore domestically built vehicles in owner satisfaction and that finding a car or truck with a high safety rating is easier than it was a few years ago.
