Robert A. “Bob” Gatzert, 74, passed away at home on March 15, 2004, beloved husband of Mary Sue “Tudy”, nee Allen; loving father of Amy Sillman, Robert Gatzert Jr. “Chip” and Elizabeth Adilman; step-father of David, Michael, Susan Henry and Sarah Bradford; dear grandfather of Isabelle, Rachel, Isaac, Alec, John, Natalie and Ian; fond and loving brother of Caryl G. Lasko; known to all as a man of good humor, sentimentality and a love of jazz. Bob was a graduated of Dartmouth College, class of 1951, and a noted businessman in Chicago for over four decades. He was an active board member for the Chicago Public Library and the Merit School of Music. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chicago Public Library, 400 State Street, Chicago, IL 60605 or the Merit School of Music, 47 W. Polk, Chicago, IL 60605.
