As a retiree about to receive Social Security at age 62, I am concerned about the rule that limits a person to earning only $11,520 yearly. All earnings above that amount are subject to penalties. This is an unfair rule imposed on a person who has worked and contributed to the Social Security fund. Let’s face it, life goes on after retirement. People still have mortgages, insurance and medical expenses.

The very same people who made these rules are in a much higher income bracket and will not be adversely affected by this rule upon their retirement. I appeal to all retirees who choose to or need to work between the ages of 62 and 65 to write their congressperson and senator. Let them know how unfair and insensitive this is to the very people who have worked so hard to make this country the best in the world.
