Helen Greif Irmo, 84, cherished wife of the late Stephen F. Irmo; beloved mother of Janice (Francis) Sovinee, Miriam (Luis) Pujals, Claudia (Michael) Pufahl, Paula Gabrielle Irmo, Stephen Jr. (Susan Yackee), Louis (Susan) Irmo and Helen (Steven) Anderson; and devoted grandmother of 15 grandchildren; and 16 greatgrandchildren; her loving sister, Mary Louise Muench of Kenosha, WI; and her dear brother-in-law, Casimir Irmo of Colorado Springs, CO survive Helen. Preceded in death by her parents, Edward John and Ellen Greif (nee Beumel); and her younger brother, Edward John Greif. Helen was born in Evansville, IN. During their 63 1/2 years of marriage, Helen and Stephen resided in Chicago, Park Ridge, Evanston and their last 28 years together in Northbrook. They were married June 24, 1939 at St. Gregory’s Church in Chicago. Mrs. Irmo and her husband, Stephen, founded Irmo Insurance Agency now owned and operated by Louis and Susan Irmo in Skokie, IL. Helen will always be remembered for her kindness, compassion and hard work on behalf of all those who knew her. Her personality was a bracing combination of intelligence and articulation, a mistress of the English language both in the spoken and written word and a testimony to the finest sentiments of human faith, hope and love. The family wishes to extend its deep appreciation to Hanekamp Funeral Home for their kindness and cooperaton and the Hospice Alliance of Pleasant Prairie, WI. for their expertise and guidance. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Norbert’s Church, 1809 Walters Ave., Northbrook, IL at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2004. Internment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
