A retired Illinois Bell Telephone Co. employee, Adele G. Schrage, 92, was active until last year in charitable work through the Telephone Pioneers of America. A resident of Arlington Heights for 10 years, Mrs. Schrage died of congestive heart failure Sunday, March 21, in the Lutheran Home, Arlington Heights. Born in Chicago, she was raised on the Far Northwest Side. Several years after graduating from high school she married Ray Stringfellow and the couple lived in the Norwood Park neighborhood. He died in 1957. She got married several years later to Walter E. Schrage. The couple lived in Edison Park before moving to Arlington Heights a decade ago. Her second husband died a year ago. Mrs. Schrage started working as an operator for Illinois Bell and moved into marketing before retiring many years later, said her son William Stringfellow. Mrs. Schrage was active in the Edison Park Women’s Club. Other survivors include two more sons, Walter Jr. and Richard Schrage; three daughters, Sandra Zidel, Patricia Panarale and Judith Schubert; a brother, Robert Suerth; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. A mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 434 W. Park St., Arlington Heights.
