Weekly specials with reel value
Kudos to Kudos
Every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from
5-10 p.m., ultra-sleek Kudos in Bucktown offers two pieces of sushi for $2. Wow! The deal includes nigiri only, though once you peruse the impressive list of fresh fish options, we suspect you won’t miss the maki. Choose among shrimp, squid, salmon, red snapper, sea bass and freshwater eel. 1635 N. Milwaukee Ave. 773-252-2233.
Oh, shuck it!
Everybody knows about Nola’s 32nd Ward Seafood House’s $1 oyster deal every Monday from 5:30 p.m.-2 a.m. Three Delaware Bay oysters arrive on a bed of ice, with cocktail sauce, horseradish, fresh lemon, mignonette sauce and crackers. But lesser known is Wednesday’s $15 all-you-can-eat Louisiana-style Cajun crawfish boil. The savory little crustaceans are boiled for hours with lemons, celery and jalapeno peppers, before being served to you alongside fire-roasted corn, potatoes and tomatoes. Once cracked, be sure to dip your crawfish in the accompanying bowl of drawn butter. 5:30-10 p.m. 1856 W. North Ave. 773-395-4300.
Perched on a dream
Head to O’Donovan’s Fridays from 4-8 p.m. and dive into all-you-can-eat ocean perch, deep-fried to a deep golden. Served, of course, with fries and malt vinegar. Trying to steer clear of fried foods? Rotating chef’s specials range from lobster risotto to grilled mahi mahi. Call for the day’s special. $4.95. One-drink minimum includes non-alcoholic beverages and MGD bottles go for $2.50 on Fridays. 2100 W. Irving Park Rd. 773-478-2100.
Roll out the red (and black) caviar
If you’re a sucker for “champagne wishes and caviar dreams,” turn off the tube, wave bye-bye to Robin Leach and prepare to live like an A-list celeb. Every Wednesday, Russian Tea Time offers half-price caviar (red salmon roe and black sturgeon sevruga, osetra and beluga caviars), ranging from $22 to $80 before the discount. Garnishes include Russian blini (savory buttermilk pancakes), creme fraiche, melted butter, chopped onions and shredded egg whites and yolks. The whole shebang is served with mother-of-pearl flatware, since caviar shouldn’t touch metal, darling. Toast your new “lifestyle” with a bottle of champagne or wine, also half-off. 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. 77 E. Adams St. 312-360-0000.
Do I maki you hungry, baby?

Options include New York maki (salmon and cream cheese), spicy tuna maki, California rolls and salmon sashimi. Mai tais are $4 all day. 4-10 p.m. 315 N. LaSalle St. 312-822-0100.
