Did Simon Cowell flip off Paula Abdul?
Cowell fended off accusations Wednesday that he directed an obscene gesture toward Abdul on live television Tuesday night after the pair argued about a singer on “American Idol.”
Cowell put his middle finger to the side of his face while Abdul challenged his comments about a contestant, but Cowell denied he was flipping her the bird.
“I certainly would never make a gesture like that toward Paula or on national television,” Cowell said. “Sometimes I lean on my index finger. Sometimes a different finger. Sometimes two at the same time, or, God help me, even the whole hand.”
Fox network censors saw nothing offensive about Cowell’s posture, but the Federal Communications Commission has “received a few complaints,” an FCC spokesman told Reuters.
