I don’t exactly understand what the anti-war protesters were protesting about last weekend. Were they protesting the fact that a murderous thug and his two murderous sons are no longer in power? Were they protesting that a government that killed and tortured hundreds of thousands–and perhaps millions–of its own people is no longer in power? Were they protesting that a regime that invaded two of its neighbors is no longer in power? Were they protesting that a regime that tried to assassinate a U.S. president is no longer in power? Or were they protesting that Iraq now has a constitution protecting all of its citizens? Were they protesting that Iraq has an interim government that represents all of its people with the hopes of a democratically elected government in the near future? Were they protesting that a clear majority of the Iraqi people say they are better off today than they were a year ago? I would like to know exactly what these anti-war (and, of course, the war has been over for nearly a year) protesters don’t like about Iraq today that they liked one year ago.
Why protest?
