The only valid consideration on the issue of Chief Illiniwek should come from Native Americans themselves. It really doesn’t matter what the rest of us think since we aren’t the ones being offended. If a majority of Native Americans find the chief offensive, then he should be retired, although I’m not sure this has been proven yet.
