The recent article concerning teacher assaults emphasizes what is wrong with public education. If the teachers and students aren’t safe from what are essentially roving gangs of thugs, how in the world can anyone in school get an education? Even the school management and the police don’t care.
Until these violent students and their parents are shown the door or given an alternative, our schools will be places to avoid, thus continuing the cycle of violence and poverty that large portions of Chicago students must endure.
