John S. Pennell, 88, of Presbyterian Homes in Evanston, beloved husband of Era; father of William (Anita) and Jeffrey (Michelle) Pennell and Patricia (Jack) Isaacson; brother of Penny (Mike) Ross; graduate of University of Michigan and Michigan Law School. Captain in U.S. Army in WWII. Partner in the law firm of McDermott, Will and Emery from 1941 to his retirement in 1986. Elder of Wilmette Church of Christ, Past President of North Shore area Council of Boy Scouts of America, Past President of Union League Club of Chicago, Past Chairman of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association, Co-Author of reference book on Partnership Taxation and hundreds of articles on federal tax matters and noted speaker on the subject of taxation. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 30 at 4 p.m. at Elliott Chapel at Presbyterian Homes, 3200 Grant St., Evanston, IL. For service information contact Presbyterian Homes at 847-492-4800.
