A recount of a school referendum measure decided by one vote will be conducted on Friday, county officials said.
Voters in Union Elementary School District 81 approved a $600,000 bond request on a vote of 217-216. On Monday, five residents asked for a recount.
The district, which serves parts of Joliet and New Lenox, covers five precincts. The petitioners are seeking a recount in precinct New Lenox 9, where 28 voters supported the district’s request and 86 opposed it.
