A proposed steakhouse in Seville Plaza, 159th and 86th Avenue, where Kimberly Bonds 9Boutique used to be, will go before the Orland Park Village Board despite the protests of many neighbors.
More than 50 residents who live behind the plaza protested the addition of Nelson’s Steakhouse, citing problems with noise and traffic, along with the garbage and rodents that find their way to the creek that sits between the plaza and the subdivision to the north.
The Orland Park Plan Commission on Tuesday approved plans for the steakhouse but requested that the restaurant consider closing at 11 p.m. instead of the proposed 2 a.m.
Nearby residents expressed concern over the effect the restaurant would have on property values. Real estate appraiser Robert Gorman of East Hazel Crest said the restaurant would not be a detriment because it would be in a commercial area where another restaurant, LaMex, already exists.
The developers will go before the village Planning and Economic Development Committee at 7 p.m. on April 26.
