Despite the absence of USC’s Mike Williams by court order, a half dozen prospects have the height and speed to change the game. There is debate over who is No. 1. The smallest of the elite is also the fastest, Wisconsin’s Lee Evans, who is moving up the charts.
1. Larry Fitzgerald
6-3, 225, Pittsburgh
Great hands and body control, outstanding character. A can’t-miss.
2. Roy Williams
6-2, 210, Texas
Best combination of size, speed and athleticism. More physical than Fitzgerald.
3. Lee Evans
5-10, 195, Wisconsin
Overcame knee injury. Runs good routes to get open. Can run after catch.
4. Reggie Williams
6-3, 230, Washington
Physical, can break tackles and fight for ball in traffic.
5. Michael Clayton
6-3, 210, LSU
Tough, hard-working, athletic, disciplined. Has good hands.
Sleeper
Michael Jenkins
6-4, 215, Ohio State
After running in 4.3s, he’s not exactly a sleeper. Might surprise in first round.
Local
P. J. Fleck
5-9, 185, Northern Illinois
RB Michael Turner got the headlines last season, but Kaneland High product Fleck showed potential. Size limits him, but he could develop into a third-down receiver. He’ll have to catch on as a free agent.
