It was edifying to read that Russell Simmons, the master of hip-hop culture, ardently embraces pacifism, vegetarianism and yoga (“Phat fashion,” April 20). He is an enlightened individual who respects all life and is truly effective as a business entrepreneur. Hopefully, many of the younger hip-hop artists will emulate Simmons and espouse non-violence and compassion. Unfortunately, there exists too many entertainers who endorse violence, cruelty to people and animals in addition to spewing a divisive, inflammatory rage.
