Spectators may watch as canoe racers paddle down the scenic Des Plaines River during the 47th annual Des Plaines River Canoe Marathon.
The 19 1/2-mile race begins at the Oak Spring Canoe Launch at 8 a.m. Sunday in Libertyville and ends at Dam No. 2 in Mt. Prospect. You can watch at any spot where a preserve crosses the river and at the dam in Ryerson Woods, 21950 N. Riverwoods Rd., near Deerfield. Call 847-604-2445.
