Chicago’s role in global finance
“Chicago as a Global Financial Center” is a conference sponsored by the Mid-America Committee of the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the Chicago Board of Trade and others. The event runs from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at The Chicago Club, 81 E. Van Buren St.
A panel discussion on “Impact of Global Competition on Chicago’s Financial Industry” takes place at 8:45 a.m. Panelists include Satish Nandapurkar, CEO, Eurex USA; Walter Lukken, commissioner, Commodity Futures Trading Commission; Tim O’Neill, executive vice president and chief economist, BMO Financial Group, and chief economist for Harris Bank; and Mark Sobel, deputy assistant secretary, international monetary and financial policy, U.S. Treasury Department.
At 10:30 a.m., a panel will discuss “Chicago’s Role as a Global Financial Center and its Future.” Panelists include Bernard Dan, president and CEO, Chicago Board of Trade; Craig Donohue, CEO, Chicago Mercantile Exchange; Adam Cooper, senior general manager and general counsel, Citadel Investment Group; and Orie Dudley Jr., chief investment officer, The Northern Trust Corp.
Leo Melamed, chairman emeritus and senior policy adviser, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, will deliver the keynote address.
