A man who refused to give money to a panhandler was slashed Wednesday on a subway platform of the CTA’s Blue Line station at Washington and Dearborn Streets, police said.
The man, 28, of Hammond, was attacked about 8:10 p.m. after leaving the Chicago Cubs game, said Chicago Police Sgt. Robert Cargie. When the man refused the panhandler’s request for money, he was attacked, possibly with a box-cutter, Cargie said. The victim was treated for cuts to his face and neck at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and released.
Several witnesses, including the victim’s girlfriend, told police the panhandler had a glass eye.
