Forget the stupid “professor” label on him (1). Forget that. Those guys are going to realize he’s not a professor. What he’s going to provide is what he provided here: Whether you asked him a question or not, if you can’t learn by watching him pitch, then you’re missing out on a lot of information.

What Maddux will mean to any club is whatever position they finished in, just add another position. I really believe that.

Yeah, they’re writing us off.

We need everybody this year. We’ve overcome a lot of weaknesses by some great players. This year, we can’t do it.

Now it’s more important than ever to close the deal. There’s a lot more pressure on me.

I don’t know how many more years.

I was never asked about steroids. I was asked about the comments Hank Aaron made. What he said basically was he thought a lot of records would be tainted now because of the hanging cloud of steroids, and I couldn’t agree more. From that, they needed a poster child, so they just attached me.

We’re (2) going to be in the Final Four next year. They got everybody coming back, they got a great point guard coming, and we still got Tom Izzo.

Pretty cool to golf with Tiger Woods. I’d just like to win every once in a while. I think I can, but after this year, he set me back about two more years, just how bad he beat me.

I’m going to coach basketball. High school. The high school that I helped build, Kingsridge Christian School, hopefully.

The fundamentals and the purity of the game have disappeared in professional basketball. High school is the purest form. If you play the game right, you can beat anybody. Maybe I’m holding on to the “Hoosiers”– type thing.

One player in basketball can really change a lot of things. But they can also be very divisive and split a team. Baseball, one player can’t dominate – with maybe the exception of Barry Bonds.

We wonder why we’re complaining about the employment issue or people overseas working our jobs. It’s because no one wants to work.

I’ve had good success against Sammy. It’s been scary success. The numbers look very overwhelming in my category, but never once did I feel like I owned him when he was in the batter’s box. Even last year, my last pitch, he hit it 390 feet, almost gone.

Money is irrelevant.

Tony Gwynn hit over .560 against me. I’m not ashamed of it. But sometime you think it’s got to work out.

When Veterans Stadium blew up, I was a happy guy. I didn’t like that place.

Who would I put in Veterans Stadium when they blew it up? Maybe the whole ’93 crowd. They were rude. They were vulgar. They were mean. And that’s why they had such a home-field advantage that year. It almost felt like they were going to turn the bus over.

You know what’s ironic? Right after 9/11, that’s the first place we went. And it was a totally different atmosphere. It was incredible.

Wrigley, Frisco, Philly, all the places that are close to the fans — they test your skin big-time. There are some professional people out there.

There’ve been some comments that just made me laugh. There’ve been some where I’ve turned around and said, ‘You can do better than that.’ I was all over the fans.

Never let me think you’re not giving your best. Because that would be the worst thing you could ever do.
