In “Falsely igniting the hopes of the desperately ill” (Commentary, June 14), columnist Dennis Byrne calls for an end to embryonic stem-cell research by faulting the myriad ways in which the research to date has been unsuccessful. Memo to Byrne: That’s exactly why we need more research. Thank you for underscoring the point so beautifully.
