It may not be rocket science, but launching a 140-foot-tall Energizer Bunny hot-air balloon definitely requires some higher reasoning.
For those seeking the experience, organizers of the Eyes to the Skies festival in Lisle will hold a free balloon class from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday to train volunteers who want to launch the 1,300-pound bunny-shaped balloon, along with other notables like Felix the Cat and Brookfield Zoo’s new Burgess the Penguin.
“Special shapes take a whole lot of people,” said Wayne Dunham, co-chairman of the Lisle 4th of July Committee, which produces the balloon festival, which runs from July 1 to 4.
The course will be in the Hyatt Lisle, at Illinois Highway 53 and Warrenville Road, a quarter-mile south of the Ronald Reagan Tollway (Interstate Highway 88).
Those interested in taking the class should send their name and address by e-mail to LisleCrew@aol.com or call 630-963-4281.
