Fred J. Reigel, 88, of Gulfport, Florida and Plainfield, Illinois, died Friday, June 18, 2004 at Palm Gardens of Largo, Florida. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he had been a seasonal resident of Gulfport for many years. He served in the US Army during WWII as a Staff Sergeant of Battery B 171st Battalion and earned many citations including three bronze battle stars. He was a trim carpenter, enjoyed cooking and was handy at fixing most anything around the house. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Eileen; a son, Gregory F. Reigel of Elburn IL; a daughter, Janet E. Mann of Hawthorn Woods, IL; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Gary Reigel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
