5 of the top 6 longest drivers on the PGA Tour will be in the field for this week’s Western Open

(1) Hank Kuehne, 314.7 yards

Nobody hits it farther than Kuehne. Many, though, are straighter. He hits only 49.4 percent of fairways, ranking 184th on the PGA Tour. His best finish is a fifth in the Nissan Open. For the season, he has earned $350,679.

(2) Scott Hend, 312.7 yards

Hend is another bomber who has problems with accuracy. He is hitting only 50.9 percent of fairways, ranking 182nd. He has earned $507,751, ranking 86th.

(3) Geoff Oglivy, 303.8 yards

He ranks 14th in total driving, when his distance is combined with his accuracy (62.6 percent of fairways hit). He has two top-10 finishes this year and earnings of $755,095.

(4) Davis Love III, 301.4 yards

At 40, Love is getting longer with age. He has jumped from an average of 287.7 yards in 2002. Love, though, is down in fairways hit, dropping from 64.6 percent last year to 59.9 percent this year.

(5) Tiger Woods, 299.8 yards

Woods still ranks among the longest hitters on tour. Accuracy, though, has been his problem. He has dropped from 71.2 percent fairways hit in 2000, when he won three majors, to 57.6 percent this year.

Note: No. 3 John Daly (305.6) will not be at the Western.

Through U.S. Open.
