So Blair Hull is upset that he and Jack Ryan weren’t judged by the “quality of [their] ideas” (“Press hijacks Senate race again,” Commentary, June 25).
It would have been far easier for Illinois voters to rate the merit of those ideas–not to mention these two candidates’ legislative competence–had either of them paid his dues by running for local or statewide office before attempting to buy himself a seat in the United States Senate.
Voters were forced to judge Hull and Ryan on what we did know, including the fact that both were bored multimillionaires looking for a new career adventure and, allegedly, a penchant for bullying their respective wives.
