In the Tribune poll on 1st Amendment rights (Perspective, July 4), many people expressed the need for controls on potty-mouth shock jocks. The problem is not whether they have a 1st Amendment right to exist. It is that they have a large audience and make huge sums of money for themselves, their broadcast owners and, presumably, their advertisers.
If nobody listened, that garbage would be off the airwaves in a flash.
